Mounjaro Made Me Realise Food Had Become My Entertainment

One thing Mounjaro has made me realise is how much I used food as entertainment.
Not just comfort. Not just hunger. Entertainment.
Something to do. Something to look forward to. Something to fill time.
Before Mounjaro, I don’t think I fully understood how much of my life revolved around food. If I was bored, food was usually the answer. If it was the weekend, food became the plan. If I had nothing on, I would start thinking about what I could eat, what takeaway I could get, what snacks I could pick up or what I could have later that night.
It was not always because I was hungry. A lot of the time it was just because food gave me something to do.
That might sound strange to some people, but I think a lot of people who have struggled with food will understand it straight away. Food can become more than fuel. It can become the event. It can become the reward. It can become the thing you look forward to when nothing else is going on.
For me, that was a massive part of it.
A Friday or Saturday night could easily become about food. A takeaway, ice cream, snacks, something sweet, something salty and then probably more again. It was not just the meal itself. It was the build-up to it. Thinking about it. Planning it. Looking forward to it. Then feeling like the night revolved around it.
And when that becomes normal, you do not always see it for what it is.
Since starting Mounjaro, one of the biggest changes has been the quietening of that food noise. I still enjoy food. I still have treats. I still have higher calorie meals. But food does not sit at the centre of everything the way it used to.
That has been a huge change.
When food stopped being the main entertainment, I had to actually look at what I was filling my time with. And I think that is something that does not get talked about enough. Mounjaro can reduce appetite and cravings, but when those cravings quieten down, you are left with space. Space where food used to be.
That space has to be filled with something.
For me, that has meant getting out more. Walking more. Training more. Moving my body more. Spending more time doing things that actually help me feel better instead of just using food to pass the time.
That is why something as simple as going out for a walk now feels different. Before, if I had a free hour, there was a good chance I would be thinking about food. Now I am more likely to get outside, clear my head and move.
That might not sound like a massive thing, but for me it is.
Because it is not just about eating less. It is about living differently.
Mounjaro helped create that space, but I still have to decide what to do with it. That is where the real work comes in. If food used to fill your evenings, your weekends or your boredom, then removing that does not automatically fix everything. You need to find other things that give you structure, enjoyment and a reason to move.
For me, walking has become one of those things. The gym has become one of those things. Spending more time with my kids has become one of those things. Creating content and sharing my journey has become one of those things.
Food can still be part of life. It should be. I do not want a life where I am afraid of food or where I think every treat is a failure. That is not the aim.
The difference now is that food is no longer the main event every time I am bored, stressed or looking for something to do.
I can have a meal and move on. I can have a treat and not turn it into a three-day binge. I can enjoy food without needing it to entertain me all the time.
That is one of the biggest changes Mounjaro has helped me see.
It did not just help me eat less. It helped me realise how much of my time, energy and thinking had been taken up by food.
And now I am trying to fill that space with better things.
More walks. More training. More time with the kids. More living.
If you are on Mounjaro or another weight loss medication and you are starting to notice the same thing, I think it is worth paying attention to. When the food noise quietens, ask yourself what you want to put in its place.
Because that space matters.
And filling it with something better could be one of the most important parts of the whole journey.
