CODEINE stories

This section is for real stories shared with me by people who have experienced codeine addiction in some form.

Every story here has been shared with the full permission of the person who sent it in. The only changes I make are to remove anything that could identify them or anyone else involved. The story itself remains theirs.

The reason I want to share these is simple. There is power in knowing that what you went through might help someone else. Someone reading your story might recognise themselves earlier. They might understand what is happening to them sooner. They might realise they are not alone and that there is a way out.

Codeine addiction can be lonely, secretive and full of shame. But the more people speak about it, the harder it becomes for others to suffer in silence.

If you would like to share your own story anonymously, you can email it to me. It does not have to be perfectly written. It just has to be honest.
